Going to a Garba night? What to wear, carry and know before you go
A friendly guide to your Navratri nights: traditional outfits, comfortable footwear, what to carry, booking your pass online and getting through the gate quickly.
Navratri nights are for dancing late with friends and family. A little planning keeps the night about the music, not about lost passes or sore feet.
What to wear
- Women: chaniya choli is the classic choice, with a light dupatta you can pin so it stays in place while you dance.
- Men: kediyu with dhoti or churidar, or a bright kurta with pyjama or jeans.
- Children: light, comfortable traditional wear, with nothing that drags on the ground.
- Choose light fabrics: you’ll dance for hours, and crowded grounds get warm.
- Check the event page: some nights have a dress code or a colour of the day.
Footwear
Wear comfortable, flat footwear with a good grip: you’ll be on your feet for hours, often on grass, sand or carpet. If the venue asks people to dance barefoot, the organizer will say so on the event page.
What to carry
- Your pass, ready on your phone. Check it’s in My Passes before you leave home.
- A charged phone and a small power bank.
- Your own dandiya sticks for Dandiya nights, unless the organizer provides them.
- A water bottle, if the venue allows it.
- Some cash or UPI for food stalls and parking.
- A small bag you can keep on you while you dance.
Book your pass before you go
Booking online is faster than the line at the gate, and popular nights sell out. Find Garba and Dandiya nights on My Event Booker, pay by UPI and get your pass on WhatsApp. Here is how booking works, step by step.

- Reach a little early: lines are longest just after the gates open.
- Keep your QR code open, with your screen brightness up.
- Couple or group pass? Arrive together: one QR code lets your whole group in at once.
- Each pass works once a night, so don’t share a screenshot of it.
Stay safe
- Agree on a meeting point with your group in case you get separated.
- Keep your phone and valuables in a zipped bag.
- Note the gate you came in by, and where to find volunteers or the help desk.
- Drink water between rounds.
- Going home late? Arrange your ride back before the night starts.
Can I go if I don’t know how to do Garba?
Of course. Watch for a round, then follow the simple steps. Most circles welcome beginners, and many grounds have a slower circle.
Is a season pass worth it?
If you plan to go most nights, usually yes. It’s valid once each night, and it usually costs less than buying every night separately.
